If there’s ever been an occasion that we’ve felt the Vinturi team needed to raise a glass to a unique and wonderful character in memory of their short but incredibly influential career, it is this. For the past month or so (because he was a very important guy), we have been reflecting on the life of Paul the psychic octopus, who sadly passed away on October 25th. Paul, who shot to fame by demonstrating that he could accurately predict which team would win any given match during the 2010 world cup held in South Africa, was something of a hero to those who knew him, but also a creature who always managed to retain a sense of modesty. A spokeswoman for the octopus said that if he had had any idea about him impending doom, he kept it to himself, presumably not wanting to trouble anyone else with the news. What a brave soul. There are now plans to build a shrine to Paul, with video clips and photographs from his life.
If you’d like to join those in the Vinturi office who are taking a moment to remember our eight-legged friend, please do raise your glass and make a toast; we’re sure he’ll be smiling down on us from fishy heaven.
