As Christmas fast approaches, it’s time to begin thinking about the big day- or maybe even more importantly, the parties beforehand! This year, be the host with the most and provide your guests with a delicious mulled wine to warm their cockles and truly get them in the festive spirit. We’ve found a great, easy-to- follow recipe, created by Alice King, a renowned wine writer, which will prove to be a great treat at any Christmas bash. You’ll need:
2x 75cl of medium to full-bodied red wine
1 orange stuck with cloves
2 sliced oranges
2 slices lemons
6 tbsp of granulated sugar or honey, depending on your personal taste
1 cinnamon stick, preferably around 5cm long.
To make the wine:
Place all the ingredients in a large pot, along with 1.5 litres of water. Heat until the mixture is simmering, and reduce the heat until it is remaining barely simmering for another 20 minutes; be careful not to let it boil.
These quantities will serve 24 in average wine glasses.
Why not treat yourself to the glass of the wine you’re using whilst cooking- and of course if you’re feeling rushed or under pressure, what better way to let your wine breathe quickly and easily than with your Vinturi. Keep cool under pressure this Christmas, whilst still being able to indulge in something special. Happy party planning!
