It’s always a delight to hear about times when wine makers from the British Isles triumph, and win awards for their creations. Although most notably famed for their whisky, this time round, the Scots have produced the cream of the crop in the world’s biggest wine competition. Alliance Wine, based in the tiny Aryshire village of Beith, beat more that 10, 000 other hopefuls to claim the Great Value Champion White Wine prize in the International Wine Challenge awards. Having set up their Australian subsidiary in 2006, where their delicious beverages are produced, the company have gone from strength to strength, and have shipped around 80,000 cases of their Moonbridge Riesling wine from Adelaide to the UK this year alone.
